Steve is based in Washington, DC.</br> <strong> Brian Dean, Lead, Energy Efficiency and Cooling, Sustainable Energy for All (SEforAll)</strong> </br> Brian Dean joined Sustainable Energy for All as Head of Energy Efficiency and Cooling in September 2023. Brian has more than 22 years of experience in energy efficiency including supporting governments and organizations globally with energy efficiency policy, analysis and demonstration projects. Prior to joining SEforALL, Brian was an official at the International Energy Agency where he was the lead for Energy Efficiency in Buildings. Prior to joining the IEA, Brian was head of Energy Efficiency Policy and Analytics at ICF International and has education in engineering, architecture and political science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.</br> <strong> Ghislaine Kieffer, Policy Analyst, Efficiency Division, International Energy Agency</strong></br> Ghislaine Kiefferis a Policy Analyst working on Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Integration at the International Energy Agency (IEA). In this role, she also leads the cities work in the IEA’s Energy Efficiency in Emerging Economies (E4) programme. She has over fifteen years of experience in various international organisations (WB, IEA, IRENA), and a multidisciplinary understanding of sustainable energy policies at the international, national and city level. In recent years, she has focused on the role of cities in the global energy transition and has gained new knowledge and insights on the nexus of cities and low-carbon energy notably through a Master in Urban Planning at McGill University. Prior to this, she worked in the Policy Unit at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) where she authored and contributed to a range of publications on specific knowledge gaps, such as Renewable Energy and Jobs, Socio-economic Benefits, and Renewable Energy in Cities. While at the IEA from 2006 to 2011, she was the Programme Manager for Latin America, and promoted closer engagement with the region by establishing high-level cooperation programs with Brazil, Chile and Mexico.</br> <strong> Mark Radka, Chief, Energy and Climate Branch/Economy Division/United Nations Environment Programme</strong></br> Mark Radka heads UN Environment’s Energy and Climate Branch, where he manages the organization’s efforts to link the global energy and environment agendas. UN Environment’s focus is on helping countries reduce emission of greenhouse gases through broad cooperative efforts and supporting engagement by the financial industry in the sustainable energy sector. Mark has a special interest in the technology needs of developing countries and was a coordinating lead author of the IPCC’s Special Report on Methodological and Technological Issues in Technology Transfer. Before joining UNEP he worked on domestic and international environmental programmes with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the World Bank, and was a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand.</br> Mark received a Master of Public Policy degree in Environmental Policy from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, a M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and a S.B. in Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

                                    <strong>Time:</strong>10:00am EDT</br> <strong>Description:</strong>Energy management has been a key component of 3M’s sustainable manufacturing efforts for over 40 years. In the early 2010s, alongside the Department of Energy, 3M piloted two manufacturing plants to help develop the ISO 50001 standard. As of 2018, 3M has 31 global sites certified to ISO 50001; 14 of which have taken the additional step to achieve Superior Energy Performance certification. On average, 3M sites through the ISO 50001 program perform 6% better (normalized energy savings) than otherwise. The success of these sites supports 3M’s Climate and Energy Goals and establishes commitment from senior management to pursue ISO 50001 for all sites, integrating energy into business and every day operations companywide. We have a rigorous Enterprise system that has a dedicated team for US and Canada capable of leading 16 new sites to certification in 2023. This poses a significant reduction in internal and external resources, costs and timeline. Hejnar’s focus on improving energy performance and reducing greenhouse gas emissions at 3M’s manufacturing facilities and commercial buildings across Canada enabled 3M to achieve the ISO 50001 Energy Management System Standard. Hejnar was recently named Energy Manager of the Year for 2018 by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). In 2017, Hejnar was named one of Canada’s Clean 16 as an outstanding contributor to clean capitalism in Canada. Hejnar holds a Masters Degree in Energy Management and has Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering. He is also a member of 3M Canada’s Diversity & Inclusiveness Council.</br> <strong>Pete Langlois, Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Program Manager, U.S. Department of Energy</strong></br> Pete Langlois is a Program Manager with the US Department of Energy's Advanced Manufacturing Office in Washington DC. Pete is leading the DOE's ISO 50001 related assistance programs, which provide tools and guidance and convey recognition to all types of organizations that are implementing an energy management system and culture. Prior to joining the DOE in 2016, Pete spent the previous two decades supporting various manufacturing industries as an engineer, journalist, strategy consultant and sustainability specialist, primarily with the global accounting firm Ernst & Young. Pete is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and a LEED Accredited Professional, and has a BS in Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University and a MS in Business from The Johns Hopkins University.</br> <strong>Jon A. Vieth, CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) Group</strong></br> Born and raised in the Toledo, Ohio area, I was involved in the Automotive Industry for close to 30 years in Aftermarket Sales, OE (Original Equipment) supply, OES (Original Equipment Service) and Distribution. The company manufactured five and six speed manual transmissions for Ford, GM, Chrysler and many performance manufacturers in the US, Canada and Europe. In 2010 I moved to Calgary, Alberta employed in the Oil and Gas Service for Natural Gas Compressor Stations. My position of Sales and Business Development took me throughout Western Canada and Northwest US. Started with the CWB Group in July 2015 as account Executive for Western Canada - Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia for all CWB product lines. In January 2018 received the promotion to Sales Manager/Business Development with responsibility for Canada and International accounts representing CWB Education, Registration and Consulting. While living in the states, I enjoyed following NCAA college basketball and football as I am a former NCAA Division I College Basketball Official and a member of the NW Ohio Basketball Officials Hall of Fame.
